Dr. Woolf is methodical, reserved and extremely thorough. He was not quick to cut and agreed to my shoulder replacement after gaining a thorough understanding of my oncology history and the condition of my shoulder. He is confident and quiet. If you're looking for chatty, he's not it. He's an extremely talented surgeon. If you want your hand held, you have to ask lots and lots of questions. He's friendly when responding. He just doesn't offer a lot of information unless you keep asking.

Separating my shoulder in HS Football led, as an adult, to severe arthritis and 2 surgeries (rotator cuff & labrum). The 1st was botched, the 2nd held me together until rigors of being athletic and a distance cyclist required more. Desiring not just a fix, but outcome allowing me to perform athletically, I did careful research. I could not be happier with my decision to trust my surgery to Dr Shane Woolf at MUSC who specializes in shoulders, sports medicine and fixing botched jobs. Dr Woolf performed a shoulder replacement to eliminate pain and a 2nd surgery to clean abrasions improving range. It has been a long road, but MUSC and Dr Woolf have been there every step with guidance, encouragement, caring and most of all, high competence and results. If you are of similar need, I strongly recommend Dr Woolf. Take my word after 4 surgeries. I am training for Triathlons now and will likely cycle USA coast to coast again soon. Thank you Doc !!!

I tore my ACL, MCL and PCL. Dr. Woolf took his time and answered all of my questions. He never acted too busy and made sure I was comfortable with my injury, as much as I could be anyway. We remained hopeful that only my ACL would have to be repaired. A 2 hour surgery was expected, but thankfully Dr. Woolf took his time and checked all of my ligaments and ended up repairing the ACL, MCL and PCL. It turned into a 6-7 hour surgery and I am thankful for that! I am healing quicker then expected, and I know I will be back to doing stupid things as soon he clears me to do so. I am very fortunate to be a patient of Dr. Woolf and thank him for his expertise!

I am active duty in the Army and stationed in Germany. I injured my foot in July and have not been given a diagnosis. While on leave, Dr. Ohlson squeezed me into his schedule as I am only here for 2 weeks. He was able to finally tell me what was wrong. That same day, I had treatment to my foot and we made a game plan on treating my foot to the best of his ability given my short stay. I am finally relieved to know exactly what is wrong with my foot and what we need to do to fix it. When I come back stateside, I will be a patient and highly recommend him to anyone who is having problems with other doctors giving you the run around.

I found Dr.Ohlson to be compassionate & considerate. He answered all my questions and suggested many treatment options. He took his time to explain all the treatments in laymen terms. I felt extremely well cared for and that I was NOT just a number. The physical therapy being next door was very convenient. The staff in his office was extremely accommodating with schedule requests. I have finished my treatments now and am amazed that I am pain free!!!!
Well done to Dr. Ohlson and his caring staff. I'm an extremely satisfied patient. Previously, Dr. Ohlson repaired my ankle in a major complicated surgery. I had brilliant results. His knowledge and professionalism is superior and unparalleled in our area.

My teenaged athlete has seen Dr. Ohlson for two separate injuries. Dr. Ohlson is professional and personable, which comforted my son and me. He took plenty of time evaluating my son, explaining the situation, and answering all my questions without me feeling rushed. The office is equipped with some impressive equipment that helped my son feel better quickly. The physical therapy staff also works closely with the doctors.
